Ashley Cavanaugh recently completed her first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Chargers in 2019. Cavanaugh spent her undergraduate years as a four-year member of the women’s soccer team at Central Connecticut State.

At CCSU, Cavanaugh was a two-time First Team All-NEC selection and two-time NEC Goalkeeper of the Year in both 2017 and 2018. For her career, she posted a 0.69 GAA and an .846 save percentage to go with a 27-11-4 record. Central finished with a 16-2-2 record in 2018, capturing the Northeast Conference title and advanced to play Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament. Cavanaugh was crucial to the Blue Devils’ success during the season, posting a school record 11 shutouts and being named an All-ECAC honoree and Second Team NEWISA All-New England. She was also tabbed to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl.

Cavanaugh gained prior coaching experience as an assistant coach/trainer with the Soccer Club of Newington in 2016, planning and coordinating the Under 9 travel team’s practices and workouts. She has also worked as an animal caretaker since 2018.

Cavanaugh graduated from CCSU in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a minor in criminal justice.
