Dave Clarke compiled an 18-14-3 mark as New Haven's head coach over the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Clarke came to the Chargers from Newington (Conn.) High School, where he served as the head coach of the boys' varsity team for three years.

He also served as staff coach for the Connecticut Olympic Development Program, heading up the Under-15 team that reached the 1998 ODP U-17 Regional I Final. His premier level Windsor World Class team won the Open Cup in 1998 and represented Connecticut at the Region I Tournament in Erie, Pa.

Clarke is a state license instructor with the U.S. Soccer Federation. He holds a USSF 'A' License, a National Youth License, and pursued a masters degree in advanced level coaching at Springfield College. A 1992 graduate of Central Connecticut State, Clarke played soccer for the Blue Devils all four seasons. He earned the CCSU Scholar-Athlete Award in 1989, 1990 and 1991. He's continued his career at the professional level, serving as a player-coach for the Connecticut Wolves (A-League) since 1993.
