(10-17-09) MANCHESTER, N.H. - The University of New Haven men's soccer team fell 4-1 Saturday afternoon at St. Anselm College. With the loss the Chargers fall to 1-13 overall and 0-11 in the Northeast-10 Conference, the Hawks improve to 5-7-3 overall and 5-4-2 in conference action.
Seven minutes and 26 seconds into the game the Hawks took a 1-0 lead off a shot which beat UNH goalkeeper Jonathan Creem.
Still in the first half, 21 minutes later, Nick Dionne scored his third goal of the season to even the score at 1-1. He put the ball in the right side of the net after receiving a pass from freshman Joel Rodriguez.
Just over one minute later, the Hawks regained the lead with a goal in the 30th minute. Just six seconds after their second goal, the Hawks netted their third goal to take a 3-1 lead, a lead they also held at halftime.
After halftime, UNH tallied six shots, but could not score, while the Hawks added another insurance goal in the 59th minute.
UNH trailed 31-11 in total shots, while leading 11-4 in saves. The Hawks attempted five corner kicks, while UNH tallied three corner kick attempts.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, October 20 when they host Nyack in a non-conference game at Kayo Field. The game will start at 3 p.m.
