(09-17-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven's football team takes on Bentley University Saturday afternoon in their first home contest of the season and their first home game since 2003. The Chargers will christen Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium for the first time at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Scouting the Chargers
The Chargers come into the game off a 31-10 Northeast-10 Conference loss at the hands of Assumption College. In week one, the Chargers defeated Lincoln University (Pa.) 33-10. The Chargers look to deploy multiple 3-man defensive fronts and multiple 1-back offensive sets. Leading the UNH offense is quarterback Ryan Osiecki and wide receiver Sharieff Hall. Osiecki has 595 yards passing this season on 54-of-87 passing. Hall's caught 20 passes in two games for a total of 253 yards this season. On the defensive side of the ball, Mike Gomes leads the team with 14 total tackles and 2.5 tackles-for-loss.
Scouting the Falcons
The Falcons come into the game riding a three-game winning streak, including a 24-0 victory in their NE-10 opener against St. Anselm College last week. Bentley also defeated Ohio Dominican 14-13 and Curry College (D-III) 43-17 earlier in the season. The Falcons run multiple offensive looks and run a basic 4-3 defense. Quarterback Bryant Johnson leads the Falcons with 667 yards passing this season on 57-of-93 passes, in all three games. Kyle Tuthill leads all Falcon receivers with 15 catches, while the Bentley rushing attack is led by Luis Cotto with 56.7 yards per game. Bentley's defense is led by Matt Zahoruiko who has 33 total tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss.
