Women's Tennis Drops Second NE-10 Match to Bentley

(09-30-09) WOODBRIDGE, Conn. - The University of New Haven women's tennis team was defeated 8-1 Wednesday afternoon by Bentley University at Amity High School. The Chargers fall to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Falcons improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the NE-10.

Freshman Lauren Lyons defeated the Falcons number one singles player 6-2, 6-1 to earn the Chargers only point on Wednesday. They were also close to sealing a victory in a first singles by Lyons and Noelle Polhemus, who held a 6-3 lead before falling 9-7.

In second singles Kristina Bensley fell 6-3, 6-0 and in sixth singles Christina Oiler fell 6-1, 6-3.

The Chargers return to action on Friday, October 2 when they host Stonehill College in another NE-10 contest. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Amity High School.
