WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of New Haven women's tennis team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference match at Assumption College Thursday afternoon, 8-1. With the loss the Chargers fall to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Greyhounds improve to 3-5 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10.

Kristina Bensley (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Mariana Zahora (Tamaqua, Pa./Franklin Pierce University) led the Chargers with a 8-3 victory in No. 3 doubles. Leah Smith (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) and Gabby Fuentes (Arlington, Va./St. Stephen's and St. Agnes) came close to a second point in No. two doubles. In No. 1 singles Lauren Lyons (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) came close to another point with a tie-breaker loss 10-7.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, April 10 when they travel to Merrimack College. Match time at North Andover High School is set for 3:30 p.m.
