SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The University of New Haven men's soccer team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference match, 2-0, to Le Moyne College Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Chargers dropped to 4-9-3 overall and 3-8-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Dolphins improved to 10-6-1 overall, 9-3 in conference play.
The Chargers opened Tuesday's game with a great first half against the Dolphins. UNH recorded four shots on goal and held Le Moyne to only two total shots and no shots on goal. The Chargers tallied bakc-to-back shots in the 17th minute by
Gui Dos Santos (Curitiba, Brazil/Bethel (Conn.)), but both teams could not manage a score and the game remained tied 0-0 at halftime.
After a scoreless first half, Le Moyne jumped out to a lead early in the second half. The Dolphins scored the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute off an out of the air shot by Alexander Lautner. The Chargers rattled off a number of shots throughout the second half, but did not register a shot on goal in the period. The Dolphins added an insurance goal in the 87th minute as they were awarded a penalty kick after a UNH foul in the box.
Le Moyne out-shot the Chargers 10-8, while the Chargers held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Dos Santos and Joseph D'Antonio led New Haven with two shots each, while
Jonathan Creem (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck ) recorded four saves in the net for UNH.
