SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The University of New Haven women's tennis team defeated American International College 9-0 Monday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference match in Springfield. The Chargers win is the first of the season as they improved to 1-10 overall and 1-10 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets fell to 0-9 overall and 0-8 in NE-10 play.

The Chargers Lindsey Conley (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury ) and Brianna Kraynak (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) both won their singles matches in impressive fashion, while the duo teamed for an 8-0 victory in No. 1 doubles. In No. 3 singles Nan Sirihorachai (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) won 6-1, 6-1 and Martha Petzoldt (Westfield, Vt./North Country Union) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 4 singles. Christina Santos (Wolcott, Conn./Wolcott) and Jess Macphee (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) team in No. 2 doubles and won 8-0 as well. Santos also won her No. 5 singles match in a tie-break. The Chargers also earned points in No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles due to forfeits by AIC.

The women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, April 12 when it travels to Assumption College for another NE-10 match. The first serve is set for 3:30 p.m. in Worcester, Mass. Stay posted to www.NewHavenChargers.com for complete coverage.
