BOX SCORE

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The University of New Haven women's tennis team, competing in its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship tournament, concluded its 2012-13 season Tuesday afternoon in a 5-1 loss at Saint Michael's College.

The Chargers only win came in No. 1 doubles from Eva Rybka (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) and Lindsey Conley (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury ). The two defeated Emily Magee and Jean-Marie McGrath 8-5. With three victories in singles, the Purple Knights clinched the win and the three remaining matches were not completed.

In No. 3 doubles Alexandra Sharshakov (Reisterstown, Md./Garrison Forest) and Jess MacPhee (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) paired in an 8-4 defeat, while Samantha Nigri (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) and Angelica Pecci (Watertown, Conn./Holy Cross) suffered an 8-1 loss.

With only one upperclassman on the roster, New Haven finished the season at 7-7 overall and 7-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The finish is the best for the Chargers since joining the conference and the team's seven wins were the most since the 2007-08 season when the team posted a 7-5 mark. UNH will return its entire roster in 2013-14, including NE-10 All-Rookie Team selection Rybka.
