WALTHAM, Mass. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team remained unbeaten following a 5-1 victory at Bentley on Saturday afternoon. Amber Simms (Southport, England/Southport) netted the 30th hat trick in program history and Monica Yanez (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) contributed a pair of goal for the Chargers.

New Haven moves to 4-0-2 overall – the best six-match start in program history – and 2-0-1 in the NE-10. The Falcons drop to 1-4-0 on the season with an 0-3-0 conference tally.

With her trio of goals, Simms became the 12th different player in Chargers' history to complete a hat trick. The most recent occurrence came on Sept. 5, 2010 courtesy of Emily Buckley-Matura against Post University. Simms also recorded her third assist of the fall.

Yanez added an assist to her pair of goals this afternoon. She took sole possession of fifth place at New Haven with her 23rd and 24th career markers and moved into a tie for fifth all-time with 58 career points.

Yanez and Simms are now tied atop the Northeast-10 leaderboard with seven goals and 17 total points apiece.

Nastasha Purchla made five saves and allowed one goal in 79 minutes of play. Moriah Saidel (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) played the remaining 11 minutes without facing a shot.

After Bentley got on the board in the eighth minute on Ana Tantum's third goal for the fall, the Chargers netted the equalizer in the 31st minute on Simms' first tally of the day. The junior from Southport, England collected a loose ball and fired from 15 yards out to knot the match at 1-1.

Just under seven minutes later, Simms scored the eventual game-winner after receiving a Yanez pass from the left wind and finishing the chance in the right corner of the net to send New Haven into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.

After the intermission, Yanez got on the board for the first time in the contest. She collected a thru-ball from Simms took two touches to beat the goalkeeoer. The shot came from 12 yards out and hit the back of the net in the 51st minute to stake the Chargers to a 3-1 edge.

It only 63 seconds for New Haven to bury another insurance tally as Simms completed the hat trick with a strike from 15 yards out on a cross from Nicole Pacapelli (West Haven, Conn./West Haven / Stonehill College). The final tally came in the 60th minute off the foot of Yanez following a Carlie Schecht (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) cross to round out the 5-1 decision.

The Chargers outshot the Falcons, 14-13, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1.
