Coming off of a five-match road swing, the University of New Haven now begins a stretch of three-straight home matches this Friday, Sept. 27 with a visit from Assumption. The Chargers enter the weekend at 5-3 overall and 1-0 in Northeast-10 action.

Most recently, New Haven was edged in a five-set showdown at Dowling on Wednesday evening. The match contained 47 ties and 26 lead changes and included a marathon 36-34 third set. Three Chargers recorded double-doubles in the contest, led by a 20-kill, 12-block showing from
Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton).

On the season, Cannady leads New Haven and ranks third in the Northeast-10 with 3.55 kills per set. Also slotted at second in the conference with a .381 hitting percentage, Cannady is the only NE-10 student-athlete ranked among the top-10 in both categories. Â She also tops the conference in blocks with 1.38 rejections per frame.
Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) and
Ashley Dalton (Helena, Mont./Capital / Northern Arizona University) are supplementing the New Haven attack with 2.43 and 2.41 kills per set, respectively.

The Chargers' offense is run through
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha), the reigning Northeast-10 Setter of the Year. Ane has distributed 8.16 assists per set overall and has posted 11.67 assists per frame over the last two matches.

In the back row,
Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) has registered a team-leading 4.93 digs per set from the libero spot.
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) is contributing defensively with 3.04 digs per frame, with four other Chargers averaging better than one dig per set to shore up the back line.

New Haven notched a 3-1 win at Franklin Pierce on Saturday in a clash of the two favorites in the NE-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The road triumph moved the Chargers to 75-0 all-time in Northeast-10 regular season contests.

The Assumption College Greyhounds come to Charger Gymnasium with a record of 3-7 and in the midst of a five-match losing streak. Also 0-2 in NE-10 play following home losses to Stonehill and Saint Rose, the Greyhounds were tabbed for 13th of 15 teams in the conference's preseason poll after finishing 13th of 16 clubs last fall.

Assumption presents a balanced offensive attack with six student-athletes posting better than one kill per set. Ryan Merle leads that group with 2.38 kills per frame and a team-leading .298 hitting percentage. Kristin Flatekval is the team's primary setter with 8.41 assists per set, and Jess Reimers helms the back row with 3.66 digs per frame.
