WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Stonehill on Saturday evening under the lights on Kayo Field. The Chargers move to 2-9-0 with a 1-6-0 record in the Northeast-10, while Stonehill improves to 7-4-1 with a 5-3-0 record in conference.

Rob Poirier (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) found the back of the net in the 12th minute to open the scoring for the Chargers. His second goal of the season came on the back end of a free kick by
Sal DiTommaso (Farmington, Conn./Farmington / Central Connecticut State University).

Stonehill's Tyler Brondyk then tied the match in the 28th minute. After the intermission, Drew Montano put the Skyhawks in front, 2-1, in the 62nd.

New Haven got the equalizer in the 86th minute with a goal from
Andres Torres (MedellÃn, Colombia/Norwalk (Conn.) / Adelphi University), who took a cross from
JP DiTommaso (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) and put in the back of the net. The goal was the team-leading sixth marker for Torres and the 12th of his three-year Charger career.
However, the Skyhawks netted the game-winner just 34 seconds later. A loose ball in the front found the head of James O'Shea, who put it past
Marc Scelsa (Islip, N.Y./Islip) to give the visitors a 3-2 decision.
Scelsa made six saves for the Chargers. Adam Colella stopped three shots.

Next up for the Chargers is a visit from Adelphi in Northeast-10 action on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m. on Kayo Field.
