WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team dropped a 6-1 result to visiting Adelphi on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Chargers' goal was scored by
Emil Thomsen (Værløse, Denmark/Birkerød Gymnasium).

With the loss, New Haven falls to 2-10 on the season with a 1-7 conference mark. Adelphi improves to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in the NE-10 following its third consecutive victory.

Thomsen's goal came in the 73rd minute.
Rob Poirier (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) began the sequence with a corner kick that found the head of
Colin McFarlane (Suffield, Conn./Suffield), who redirected the ball to Thomsen. The sophomore back converted a header past Panthers' goalkeeper Ahmad Salamah to spoil the Adelphi clean sheet.

The goal was the first of the season for Thomsen and the second of his career. Poirier's assist was his second of the fall, and the helper credited to McFarlane marked his first collegiate point.

The Adelphi offense scored three goals in each half. Shane McLaughlin scored the first two, with single tallies going to Will Rezin, Matt Giaconelli, Federico De Oliveira and Kenneth Indergard.

Marc Scelsa (Islip, N.Y./Islip) played the first 78:21 in goal for New Haven and made eight saves.
James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) had one stop over the final 11:39, and McFarlane had a pair of defensive saves during a scramble in the second half.

Salamah had three saves for Adelphi. Spenser Powell finished the match in goal and stopped the only shot that he faced.

New Haven will now embark on a two-match road trip. The Chargers visit Merrimack on Saturday, Oct. 18 and travel to crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Action returns to Kayo Field for a match against Franklin Pierce under the lights on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. as a part of Homecoming Weekend.
