WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team got kills from nine different players en route to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Mercy on Thursday evening at Charger Gymnasium.
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) led all players with 12 finishers in the non-conference, East Region victory.
Following the win, the Chargers improve to 16-5 on the season. Mercy drops to 4-19 with its seventh straight defeat. New Haven took the match by set scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-14.

Joining Kennelly in double figures was
Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) with 11 kills.
Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) added four kills, and
Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) had three. Four players –
Lexis Peterson (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor Central),
Caprisha Richards (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Antilles School),
Damianis Eusebio (Miramar, Fla./University School) and
Meagan Anderson (Palm Springs, Calif./Palm Springs) sent home two kills apiece.
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) had one kill from the setter spot in addition to 33 assists. The Chargers hit at a collective clip of .245.

During a pre-match ceremony, head coach Robin
Salters washonored as the program's wins leader.Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) led the back row with 18 digs to become the fourth Charger to reach 1,500 digs in her career. With 1,502 career digs, the junior is 72 digs away from the program record of 1,574 established by her predecessor in the libero spot, Heather Ladao. Lee added 16 digs in this evening's action.

At the net, Atufunwa had a hand in five of New Haven's seven team blocks. Kennelly and Ane were both a part of two send-backs as the Chargers limited Mercy to a hitting percentage of .000 with 20 kills and 20 errors.

Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) led the serving effort with four aces. The sophomore was behind the service line for an 8-0 run in the first set follow by spurts of a nine points and five points in the second frame. Olaso dropped in two aces and helmed an 8-0 run in set three.

The Mavericks were led by eight kills from Brenna White. McKenna Ronan distributed 17 assists for Mercy, and Floriana Rraci had a team-leading 14 digs.

Prior to the match, the Chargers celebrated the program-record 577th win the career of Head Coach Robin Salters '91. Salters eclipsed Deborah Chin's program mark in Tuesday's NE-10 sweep at Pace.
The Chargers return to conference action this weekend with a pivotal road match at Stonehill. New Haven is currently 7-1 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks boast an 8-1 conference mark as a part of a 17-4 overall record. First serve from the Bay State is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
