Natasha Purchla (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and Erica Ridella both kept a clean sheet.
New Haven moves to 4-6-1 and 3-4-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference with the draw. SCSU now stands at 6-3-1 and 5-2-1 in conference action.
With six saves, Purchla earned her first shutout of the season in all 110 minutes.
Sierra Stein (Sherman, Conn./Immaculate) led the UNH attack with four shots, including three shots on goal.
Shannon Enright (Ashford, Conn./E.O. Smith),
Courtney Marra (New Fairfield, Conn./Immaculate) and
Ashley Dawson (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge) each recorded multiple shots in the tie as well.
Ridella stopped nine shots and earned the shutout for the Owls as well. Bryana Poulin led SCSU with five total shots including two on net.
Each team recorded three corner kicks, while the Chargers held a slight 15-14 edge in shots.
The Owls recorded one of the match's best scoring opportunities in the second stanza. As Victoria Buonanni found space inside the 18-yard box she fired a shot to the right of the net. Purchla made the diving save to her left and held on to the shutout.
New Haven was out-shot 2-0 in the first overtime period, but then forced the Owls to make three saves in double overtime to hold on for the draw.
New Haven returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 when it travels to Franklin Pierce for another NE-10 matchup. Match time in Rindge, New Hampshire is set for 4 p.m.
