SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A 19th-minute goal off the foot of Kirsten Colgrove was the only scoring as the University of New Haven women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Le Moyne in Northeast-10 action on Tuesday afternoon.
Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made four saves in goal for the Chargers.
Â
After the loss, New Haven stands at 3-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the NE-10. The Dolphins improve to 4-3-1 on the season with a 2-1-1 conference tally.
Â
Colgrove's goal was an unassisted tally delivered from six yards out and deposited in the lower left corner of the net.
Â
The Chargers had several chances to net the equalizer, launching four corner kicks and seven shots on goal, but Tori Corsario turned away every offering to preserve the clean sheet for the hosts.
Â
Amber Simms (Southport, England/Southport) managed three shots on net, and
Marisa Garcia (Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had an attempt in the 82nd minute that served as New Haven's final strike on Corsario.
Â
All four of Nash's saves came in the first half, as the Chargers' back row stifled the Dolphins after the intermission to facilitate the opportunity to find the equalizer.
Â
New Haven continues NE-10 play on the road the weekend with a Saturday, Sept. 27 trip to Stonehill. After visiting American International on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Blue and Gold return to Kayo Field on Saturday, Oct. 4 to host Merrimack.
