BOX SCORE WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to eight following today's five-set win over visiting Dowling.
Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) led all players with 19 kills in the non-conference victory at Charger Gymnasium.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 8-4 on the season. The Golden Lions fall to 8-7. New Haven took the match by set scores of 25-18, 18-25, 26-24, 17-25 and 15-8.

Atufunwa's 19 kills came on .444 hitting (19-3-36). She was a force in the match's pivotal fifth set with five kills and two blocks. The senior middle has swung at a .441 clip with 3.33 kills per set over the Chargers' last two matches.

Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) posted her fifth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 15 digs.
Hayley Wilson (Denver, Colo./Overland) added nine finishers, and the Chargers got seven kills each from
Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) and
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower).

Rounding out the offense were
Alex Bussey (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) and
Lexis Peterson (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor Central) with one kill apiece.
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) had five kills from the setter position in addition to 48 assists. Collectively, New Haven hit .190 in the match.

Defensively,
Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) led all players with 25 digs. Kennelly added 10 from the back row. At the net, Atufunwa had a hand in five of the Chargers' eight team blocks and Bussey was a part of three New Haven send-backs.

Three Chargers scored from the serving game as Ane, Meteyer and
Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) each landed an ace.

Dowling was led by double-doubles from Jessica Kalbfleisch (18 kills, 13 digs) and Cassy Kelly (13 kills, 22 digs).
