BOX SCORE LAKELAND, Fla. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team resumed action this afternoon at the FSC/Terrace Hotel Classic. In their first of two matches today, the Chargers were upended by host Florida Southern, 3-0.

Following the loss, New Haven stands at 0-3 on the young season. The Mocs, who reached the NCAA Division II South Region Championship Semifinals as part of a 22-14 campaign last fall, improve to 2-0 in 2014. Florida Southern took the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 26-24.

Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) led the New Haven attack with nine kills (9-1-24, .333) and eight digs.
Hayley Wilson (Denver, Colo./Overland) added seven kills on .357 hitting (7-2-14) for the Blue and Gold. Also contributing offensively was
Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) with five finishers, and
Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) and
Alex Bussey (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) with three kills apiece.
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) chipped in with two kills and
Meagan Anderson (Palm Springs, Calif./Palm Springs) had one.
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) distributed 26 assists and picked up two kills of her own.

Defensively,
Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) posted 12 digs and
Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) added 11. At the net, Atufunwa picked up New Haven's lone block of the contest.

Anderson also landed two service aces, and Olaso dropped in one winner.

Kate Stromberg led the Florida Southern offense with 13 kills. Ali Skayhan dished out 40 assists, and Catherine Brusie had a match-leading 27 digs.

The Chargers conclude action in the Sunshine State later this evening with a 5 p.m. match against Nova Southeastern. The Sharks are 0-2 on the season after losses to Flagler and Lewis this weekend.
