WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team forged several second half chances, but were unable to find the back of the net as the Chargers battled the Stonehill Skyhawks to a 0-0 tie in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
With the draw, New Haven is now 7-4-2 with a 4-4-2 record in the NE-10. Stonehill is 3-7-3 and is 2-5-2 in conference.
The two teams played an evenly matched first half with the Chargers holding a 5-4 advantage in shots. The second half featured a pair of strong looks for the Blue and Gold, but attempts five minutes apart by
Shannon Enright (Ashford, Conn./E.O. Smith) and
Marisa Garcia (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) each hit the crossbar.
In overtime, goalkeeper
Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) was called on to make a pair of big saves to preserve the draw. Overall, Nash made nine saves in the contest.
New Haven returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Manchester, N.H. for a Northeast-10 Conference tilt against Southern New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m.
