MANCHESTER, N.H. –
Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) made eight saves as the University of New Haven men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against the Saint Anselm Hawks in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
With the draw, New Haven is 4-9-1 overall and is 1-8-1 in NE-10 play. The Hawks are now 3-9-2 with an 0-8-2 mark in conference.
A quiet first half saw the teams combine for just one shot on goal, which was turned in by Sean Smith for the Hawks.
The best chances for the Chargers came late in the second half and at the beginning of the first overtime. In both instances,
George Tighe (Tauranga, New Zealand/Tauranga Boys College) rifled a shot towards the net that was turned aside by the Saint Anselm goalkeeper. Both corner kicks that followed the saves, did not produce a goal, as the game remained scoreless.
New Haven remains on the road for its next match when it travels to North Easton, Mass. to face Stonehill on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12:00 p.m.
