WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's basketball team put four players in double-figure scoring, but was unable to overcome hot shooting at the free throw line as the Chargers fell to the Saint Rose Golden Knights in a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division Game on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Saint Rose is 3-1 overall with a 2-0 mark in conference play. New Haven falls to 0-2 both overall and in the NE-10.
Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep / Putnam Science Academy) and
Michael Bourke (South Orange, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) led the Blue and Gold with 13 points each.

Joshua Guddemi (Nottingham, England/Derby) had seven points and a team leading seven rebounds. Tyler Sayre led all scorers with 18 points for Saint Rose.
After falling behind 10-1 early, the Chargers responded, going on a 21-6 run that spanned the majority of the remainder of the period, taking a 22-16 lead with 5:22 left in the half. The Blue and Gold rode that momentum to a 29-24 halftime advantage. Key in the run was Gillespie who scored eight points during the span.
The two teams battled closely in the second half as Saint Rose took a 48-46 lead on a pair of Tyler Sayre free throws with 7:16 to go. New Haven went on another run, scoring nine points in a row, the first five on a three and a layup by Bourke and capped by a McDaniels free throw to take a 55-48 lead in a matter of just more than two minutes.
The Golden Knights chipped back into the lead and took a one point lead on a Sayre layup to make it 57-56 with 2:06 remaining. On the ensuing possession, McDaniels fought his way inside for a basket, putting the Chargers on top 58-57. After a pair of turnovers, Saint Rose took the lead for good on a jumper and before sealing the game on a pair of free throws.
The Chargers are in action next on Tuesday, Nov. 24 when they head to Garden City, N.Y. for a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division game at Adelphi at 7:30 p.m.
