WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team recorded a flurry of shots in the final 15 minutes, but were unable to crack the scoreboard as the Chargers were downed by the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans 1-0 at Kayo Field on Saturday evening.
With the win, the Spartans are now 1-3. New Haven suffers its first loss of the year, falling to 3-1.
Scoreless at halftime, St. Thomas Aquinas netted the lone goal of the match on a penalty kick by Michael Corbi that resulted after New Haven was ruled to have played a handball in the box.
The Chargers had several chances in the waning moments of the contest, getting half of their shots in the final 15 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net with the equalizer.

Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) made four saves for New Haven.
New Haven is in action next on Tuesday. Sept. 15 when it travels to Adelphi to open the Northeast-10 Conference slate. The match is slated for 7:00 p.m.
