BOX SCOREThe University of New Haven women's tennis team traveled to Garden City, N.Y. for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup this afternoon against the Panthers of Adelphi University, falling 9-0.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 0-4 on the season. The Panthers advanced to 5-0.
The Chargers had their best shot for a doubles victory when
Ashley Varrone (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and
Caitlyn Burridge (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) fought against Bianca Bernal and Elena Nastasi, but came up short in an 8-4 setback.
Alexandra Sharshakov (Reisterstown, Md./Garrison Forest) led the Chargers in first flight singles with a pair of narrow defeats, 6-2 and 6-3.
New Haven returns to action this Friday, Sept. 18, when they will face Franklin Pierce Ravens in an NE-10 contest. The match is set to begin at 3:30 pm at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, Conn.
