Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 25 Women's Soccer Falls Late to AIC

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The nationally ranked No. 25 New Haven women's soccer team battled the American International Yellow Jackets deep into the second half, but a trio of late goals pushed the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 win at Kayo Field in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday night.

With the win, AIC is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the NE-10. New Haven falls to 4-2 with a 1-2 conference mark.

Following a scoreless first half, the two teams kept their respective defensive postures late into the second half. In the 77th minute, the Yellow Jackets netted the first goal of the contest as Emilia Hed received a pass from Linnea Nilsson, moved around a defender and sent the ball into the back of the net. That set off a flurry of goals by AIC to pad the lead.

New Haven is next in action on Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 Conference clash. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
