SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second-straight day, the University of New Haven volleyball team split a pair of matches, this time on the closing day of the 2015 American International Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday. The Chargers opened up the day with a three-set loss to Angelo State (12-25, 16-25, 21-25) before sweeping Ohio Valley (25-20, 25-17, 25-21). 
For the day, the Chargers hitters were led by outside hitter Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) and setter Kristine Rios (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) who finished with 17 and 12 kills, respectively. Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) also finished among the leading hitters with 16 kills, eight in each of the two matches. Kennelly was the lone Charger to turn in double figure digs on the day, finishing with 10 in the loss to Angelo State. Rios finished the day with seven kills in the win over Ohio Valley, her fourth straight match with five or more kills, and two shy of her career-high of nine. 
Rios finished the day with 47 assists to go along with her 12 kills, while also among the leading defenders with 25 total digs. Leading the defense on the day was Kennelly with 27 digs and libero Devin Smith (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) with 22. 
MATCH NOTES VS. ANGELO STATE
·         Junior outside hitter Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) finished her seventh straight match with double figure kills leading the Chargers hitters with 10 in the opening match of the day. 
·         Freshman setter Kristine Rios (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) finished the match with 21 assists to go along with five kills and seven digs. Rios finished with a team-best .444 hitting average, suffering just one error in nine attacks.
·         As a team, New Haven finished the match hitting .141 with 21 kills in 99 total attempts. 
·         Joining Kennelly in leading the Chargers hitters was Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) who chipped in eight kills, while hitting .233 for the match with one error in 30 attempts.
MATCH NOTES VS. OHIO VALLEY
·         Three Chargers finished with seven or more kills to lead the attacking efforts, led by Kristen lee who finished with right. Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) and Kristine Rios (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) each added seven kills with Rios leading the trio with a .313 hitting effort with two errors in 16 attempts. 
·         Micki Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) led all hitters in the match with an impressive .833 attack percentage with five kills and no errors in six total attempts. 
·         Rios, the rookie setter, finished with 26 assists, while finishing second on the team with 18 digs. 
·         Defensively, Kennelly led the team with 19 digs, while also chipping in with three assists. 
·         As a team the Chargers finished the Ohio Valley match with 36 kills and a .150 hitting average with 18 errors in 120 attempts. Defensively, the Chargers held Ohio Valley to just 24 kills and a .047 hitting average.
