WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team was upended 1-0 on Saturday night by the Assumption Greyhounds in a Northeast-10 Conference contest.

With the win, Assumption is now 1-6-1 with a 1-2-1 record in the NE-10. The Chargers are now 3-5 and are 0-4 in conference play.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw at halftime with
Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) helping keep the Chargers in the match, making six saves in the opening frame.

The lone goal of the match came in the 52nd minute when Kyle Santoro crossed the ball into the box and Matt Gilson was able to head the ball into the back of the net.

New Haven had a pair of chances in the waning moments with a corner kick and a shot that went wide, but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Chargers return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m. to take on Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 Conference match at Kayo Field.Â
