Men's Soccer Upended Late by Saint Michael's

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team battled scoreless into the 68th minute before the Chargers were upended by the Saint Michael's Purple Knights 1-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, Saint Michael's is now 5-3 with a 3-2 record in the NE-10. New Haven falls to 3-6 with an 0-5 record in conference.

The two squads played a very evenly matched first half as the Purple Knights held a slight 6-5 edge in shots, with both teams registering two attempts on goal. In the second half, Saint Michael's netted the lone goal of the match as Bradley Anair delivered a high ball into the box that O. J. Rivas corralled and lifted past the challenge of the keeper.

Both Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) and Nicco Roque were strong in their respective nets, making six saves apiece.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to Rindge, N.H. to take on the Franklin Pierce Ravens in a Northeast-10 Conference match starting at 5:30 p.m.
