EASTON, Mass. –
Samir McDaniels (Roxbury, Mass./New Mission) led the University of New Haven men's basketball team with a career-high 20 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the floor, but the Chargers were upended by the Stonehill Skyhawks 78-44 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Tuesday night.

With the win, Stonehill is now 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the NE-10. The Chargers are 4-11 with a 1-8 record in conference.

In addition to McDaniels scoring,
Michael Bourke (South Orange, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) added 10 points.

New Haven played close in the early going as Bourke's second three-pointer of the game sliced the Skyhawks lead to 13-8 with 11:23 remaining in the first half. The remainder of the frame was controlled by the home team as an extended run gave Stonehill a 44-17 lead at halftime.
The Chargers came out of the locker room with renewed vigor, scoring seven of the first nine points in the second half as they battled to climb closer. McDaniels keyed the effort, scoring nine points in the first five minutes of the stanza. Stonehill regained its composure, however, pulling away in the final 0 minutes for the victory

New Haven returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 as it travels to Worcester, Mass. to face the Assumption Greyhounds in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. Tipoff from Laska Gym is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
