Women's Soccer Upended by No. 7 Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team traveled to take on the nationally ranked No. 7 Stonehill Skyhawks, falling 1-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Wednesday night. The Chargers are now 5-7-1 overall with a 2-7-1 mark in the NE-10.

The Skyahwks struck first early in the contest as Meredith Moore scored in the ninth minute. Following the opening tally, Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made four saves during the remainder of the period to keep the match close.

In the second half, Stonehill had an early chance as seven minutes in, a shot from the top of the box hit the crossbar. The subsequent rebound also resulted in a shot, but it was stopped and swept away by the New Haven back line. The Blue and Gold had three shots in the final two minutes, but the Stonehill keeper was able to make a save and the back line blocked the other two.

Overall, Nash made eight saves for New Haven.

The Chargers are next in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they host the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. Kickoff from Kayo Field is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
