WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Pablo Perez (Medellin, Columbia/West Haven) had two goals and an assist, but the University of New Haven men's soccer team was downed by the Stonehill Skyhawks 4-3 in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday night. With the setback, New Haven is now 6-8-1 on the season overall and 3-7-1 in the NE-10.
KEY PLAYERS
· The goals by Perez were the first of his career. He also now has 10 assists, which leads the NE-10.
· Mason Rivera (Preston, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) netted his third goal of the season off a feed from Perez
· Adam Branco had three goals for Stonehill.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Trailing 1-0 in the 29th minute, Perez scored on a penalty kick for his first goal of the season.
· Stonehill scored twice more early in the second half, each by Branco to take a 3-1 lead. New Haven climbed closer in the 66th minute as off a free kick outside the left of the box, Rivera headed home a Perez cross.
· After the Skyhawks scored again to make it 4-2, Perez had another opportunity on a penalty kick. His PK was saved, but he was able to take the rebound and send it past the keeper.

New Haven returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when it plays its final road match of the regular season, traveling to Bentley for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Kickoff from Waltham, Mass. is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
