WALTHAM, Mass. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team battled the Bentley Falcons scoreless into overtime before a goal in the waning seconds allowed the Falcons to upend the Chargers 1-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Tuesday afternoon. The two teams played a defensive first half with only six total shots between the squads. The only attempt that found its way on target was from
Rob Poirier (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme), which was saved by Liam McCarthy. The offense flowed more freely in the second half with both keepers being tested.
Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) was up to the challenge for New Haven, stopping all six Bentley shots on goal in the frame.

In the overtime period, the game went scoreless into the 100th minute. With just seven seconds remaining, Bentley finally broke the stalemate as Sean Sullivan scored his sixth goal of the season, taking a ball that was played in from 15 yards out and heading it over the goal line.

New Haven returns to action on Friday, Oct. 28 when it hosts Le Moyne for Senior Day in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Kayo Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
