Women's Soccer Upended on Senior Day

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team played an even first half before the Saint Rose Golden Knights pulled away in the second frame as the Golden Knights downed the Chargers 5-1 in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Wednesday evening. New Haven is now 5-11-1 overall and 2-10-1 in the NE-10.

The two teams were scoreless into the 32nd minute when the Golden Knights broke the stalemate on a goal by Eva Frazzoni coming from a through ball off the foot of Sophia Constantine. Just more than seven minutes later, New Haven tied the contest at 1-1 as Emily Morello (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) played a ball across the box. Sarah Bosco (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) settled it and beat the keeper one-on-one for her third goal of the season.

Still knotted at 1-1 nearly 12 minutes into the second half, Saint Rose took the lead on a goal by Nina Predanic with a strong individual effort. The Golden Knights scored three more times in the frame to cement the final score.

Prior to the contest, the Chargers held their annual Senior Day ceremony as Cassidy Haigh (Woodbury, Conn./Nonnewaug), Deandra Nash (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park), Carlie Schecht (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip), Sierra Stein (Sherman, Conn./Immaculate), Danielle Widmann (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) and Shannon Enright (Ashford, Conn./E.O. Smith) were all honored for their four years of service to the women's soccer program.

New Haven concludes its season on Saturday, Oct. 29 when it travels to Saint Anselm for a Northeast-10 Conference match. Kickoff from Manchester, N.H. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
