King Nets Career-High in New Haven Setback

WEST HAVEN, Conn.
– Sade King (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon / Hampton University) scored a career-high 17 points and Alexandria Kerr (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) recorded her third straight double-double to open the season, but the New Haven women's basketball team fell in its Northeast-10 Conference opener 72-56 to the Le Moyne Dolphins on Wednesday night. The Chargers are now 0-3 on the season 0-1 in the NE-10.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  •          King's 17 points came on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. She also dished out five assists in the contest, tying her career-best.
  •          Kerr tied a career-high with 14 rebounds to go along with 13 points. She previously grabbed 14 boards against Georgian Court last season. She is the first New Haven player with double-doubles in three straight games to open the season since Aquillin Hayes in 2014-15.
  •          In her first career start, Allieyah Cubbage (North Plainfield, N.J./Roselle Catholic) had nine points and four rebounds. Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) also had a solid stat line with six points, five rebounds and a block.
  •          The Chargers opened the game strong, responding from a 12-7 deficit to tie the game at 15-15 on a King jumper with 1:14 to go in the first period.
  •          King scored all of her points in the first and fourth quarters.
  •          New Haven outscored the Le Moyne bench 19-8 for the game.

New Haven takes to the road where it will face Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday, Nov. 19. Tipoff from Albany, N.Y. is slated for 1:30 p.m.
