Mazliah Scores Five Goals as No. 10 Women's Lacrosse Downs Franklin Pierce

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) scored a career-high five goals as the nationally ranked No. 10 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team won its fifth straight game, downing the Franklin Pierce Ravens 15-5 in a Northeast-10 Conference tilt on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers are now 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the NE-10.
 
Key Players:
·         Mazliah had five goals and two assists for a career-high seven points.
·         Caitlin O'Brien (Branford, Conn./Branford) had three goals and three assists for a season-best six points. It is also her third consecutive hat trick and fifth of the year.
·         Corinne Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Maya Szymanski (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and each had three points. Fisher had two goals and an assist while Szymanski scored once and helped on two others.
·         Mackenzie Reh (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) scored less than a minute into the second half for her first career goal. 

How it Happened:
·         The Chargers scored the first seven goals of the game en route to building a 7-0 lead midway through the first half.
·         After the Ravens scored, New Haven tallied the final four goals of the opening half to take an 11-1 lead into intermission.
·         The two teams each scored four second half goals with O'Brien netting a pair in the stanza for the Blue and Gold. 

Turning Point:
New Haven scored the first four goals of the contest, three of them by Mazliah in a 6:23 stretch to open the game and never looked back.
 
By the Numbers:
·         The Chargers held the Ravens scoreless until the 13:21 mark of the first half. Prior to that tally, New Haven had not allowed a goal in a span of 95:27 dating to a goal scored by Merrimack on March 25.
·         The Blue and Gold held a 17-5 advantage in draw controls including 12-1 in the first half.
·         The Chargers outshot Franklin Pierce 27-17.
