WALTHAM, Mass. – Four players scored two goals each, but the No. 9 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team fell 12-8 to the No. 17 Bentley Falcons on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. New Haven is now 12-5 on the season with a 10-3 record in conference play.
Key Players:
- Alicia Busco (Agawam, Mass./Agawam), Corrine Fisher, Maya Szymanski (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Nicole Belanger (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) each found the back of the net twice for the Chargers.
- Caitlin O'Brien (Branford, Conn./Branford) and Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) each had an assist for New Haven.
- Marissa McDermott (Longmeadow, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) recorded a pair of saves and caused a turnover in her first 20 minutes of action upon entering the game.
How it Happened:
- The Falcons scored four of the first five goals to take a 4-1 lead midway through the first half.
- The Chargers scored two of the next three on tallies by Busco and Fisher to pull to 5-3 at the 8:26 mark of the half.
- Trailing 7-3, New Haven scored the last goal of the frame when Busco found the back of the net with nine seconds left.
- Bentley opened the second half with the first three goals to open its largest lead of the contest.
- Down 11-5 with just more than five minutes remaining, the Blue and Gold scored three of the next four goals to close to 12-8 in a span of 2:05.
