Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 10 Women's Lacrosse Upended by No. 2 Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 10 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team played a close first half against the No. 2 Le Moyne Dolphins, but a second half Dolphins run probed to be the difference as the Chargers were upended 11-5 in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday afternoon. With the setback, New Haven is now 8-3 overall and is 6-1 in the NE-10.

Caitlin O'Brien (Branford, Conn./Branford) and Maya Szymanski (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) led the Chargers with a pair of goals each. Jessica Mazliah (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) also found the back of the net for New Haven.

Le Moyne opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first two minutes before Szymanski netted her first at the 27:18 mark. The Dolphins opened a 4-2 lead midway through the first half on two goals from Bryanna Fazio, sandwiched around a tally by Szymanski. Neither team scored again until there was less than three minutes remaining in the frame when an O'Brien goal pull New Haven to 4-3 heading into halftime.

O'Brien opened the scoring in the second stanza as she found the back of the net at the 25:49 mark to tie the contest at 4-4. From there, Le Moyne scored seven unanswered goals, to take an 11-4 lead before Mazliah's tally closed the scoring.

New Haven returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 when they host No. 1 Adelphi at Kayo Field. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
