WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's tennis team opened its home schedule, the first full season on the new UNH Tennis Courts, on Tuesday afternoon, being upended by the Adelphi Panthers 9-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference match. With the setback, the Chargers are now 1-2 both overall and in conference play.

Leading the way for New Haven was
Angela Mercurio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) at sixth singles. After winning the first set 6-1, she fell 0-6 in the second set. A battle ensued in the tiebreak before Mercurio was downed 10-6. The Chargers also competed at third doubles as
Caitlyn Burridge (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) and
Lauryn Burridge (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) battled to an 8-3 setback.

New Haven returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a Northeast-10 Conference match. Opening serve in Rindge, N.H. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
