COLCHESTER, Vt. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team posted a flurry of late shots, but were unable to dent the scoreboard as the Chargers were upended by the Saint Michael's Purple Knights 1-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and Gold is now 4-3-1 on the season with a 1-3-1 record in the NE-10.

The two teams went up and down the field in the first half with 19 total shots being registered. Saint Michael's held a slight advantage in total shots, 11-8 while New Haven posted a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. Despite the frenzied pace, the game went into halftime scoreless.

Early in the second half, the Purple Knights got on the board as after a shot hit the crossbar, Jacob von Giebel collected the rebound and scored for a 1-0 lead. New Haven went back on the attack, putting up 11 shots in the second half, including a trio that forced saves in the final minutes, but were unable to get the equalizer.

Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) made four saves to keep the Chargers in the contest.

New Haven is in action next on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m. when it hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference match at Kayo Field.Â
