Peduzzi Nets First Career Goal, Women's Soccer Earns Important Win At Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) scored her first career goal in the 68th minute which proved to be the eventual game-winner as the University of New Haven women's soccer team defeated the Merrimack Warriors, 1-0 in a crucial Northeast-10 matchup at Martone-Mejail Field on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first frame, Peduzzi scored her first goal of the season when she got a pass from sophomore Megan Georges (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) to put the ball in past the defender on a low shot that snuck past the keeper. The New Haven defense held strong for the remainder of the match, particularly in the final five minutes of regulation when Merrimack put five shots on the Chargers along with a corner kick opportunity in the final minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre) made the start and played the full 90 minutes, making eight saves in between the pipes. Davis made a number of key saves in the second half, including one in the 84th minute that helped her cap off her first career shutout.

New Haven returns to the friendly confines of Kayo Field for another important matchup against Saint Anselm on October 25th. Match time is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm. For fans who are unable to attend, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
