Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dudic's Three Point Performance Leads Men's Soccer Past Saint Michael's, 2-1

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Sukrija Dudic (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) assisted on one goal and scored the game winner as the University of New Haven men's soccer team defeated Saint Michael's, 2-1 in a Tuesday morning Northeast-10 matchup at Kayo Field.

With each team battling the high-force winds, New Haven scored early on as Dudic got around the defender and fed the ball toward the front of the net from the near side to find sophomore Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme), who finished off the shot to gain a 1-0 advantage. Saint Michael's evened the match just five minutes later, but both teams could not find the back of the net by the midway point as the match was tied at the half.

With just over 18 minutes left in the second half, sophomore Brian Silhan (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) stole the ball away from the Purple Knights on their attacking end and fed a pass down field to find senior Frank Norosky (Mystic, Conn./Fitch), who was able to turn and tap the ball to Dudic for a one-touch goal. Dudic's goal proved to be the eventual game-winner as the Chargers held on to the momentum for the rest of the frame to run away with the 2-1 win.

New Haven had 21 shots on the afternoon with 14 of them occurring in the second half. Sophomore Pablo Perez (Medellin, Columbia/West Haven) took a team-high six shots with two shots on target, while Dudic and Peduzzi each had three shots. The Chargers also had the edge on corner kicks with nine opportunities compared to the Purple Knights' two. Sophomore keeper Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) made five saves to help the Chargers to the victory.

The Chargers return to action on Friday, October 27th at Kayo Field for Senior Day. Match time against the Saint Rose Golden Knights is set for 7:00 pm. With today's win, the Chargers must also win against Saint Rose and get help from other NE10 teams to keep their playoff hopes alive. For fans that are unable to attend Friday's match, live stats and video will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
