WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven field hockey team fell to Adelphi 10-0 on Wednesday night at DellaCamera Stadium.
Adelphi came out strong in the beginning scoring a few quick goals, but freshman goalie
Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) stood strong as she faced 17 shots in the first half. The defense continued to hold their own during the second half as Shaker faced 13 shots, and only allowed two more goals.
The Chargers offense got two penalty corners on the night. Freshman
Shelby Card (Milanville, Pa./Honesdale) was able to take a shot off the first corner, but just missed by hitting the post. In the second half, sophomore
Ashley Higgins (Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy) had an opportunity with another shot on goal, but could not convert it.
The Chargers return to action when they travel to Saint Anselm on Saturday October 7. The game is slated to start at 1:00p.m.
