ALBANY, N.Y. –
Jack Zagaja (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic) had a pair of hits, but the University of New Haven baseball team dropped its Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division series finale to the Saint Rose Golden Knights 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers found themselves down early as defensive miscues helped the Golden Knights to jump out to an 8-0 lead after three innings. The New Haven bullpen came on and helped make sure the lead didn't advance as
Will Aldam (Danbury, Conn./Berkshire School) delivered 3.1 innings of relief for the Blue and Gold, allowing just two hits.
Colin Keyes (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) followed and authored a scoreless seventh inning.
New Haven had its best offensive opportunity in the seventh, putting runners on first and second with one out after a
Nick Perrelli (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) walk and
Joe Caico (Hopedale, Mass./Worcester (MA)) was hit by a pitch, but Saint Rose was able to escape the jam.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, April 26 when they host Pace in an NE10 Southwest Division game. First pitch from Frank Vieira Field is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
