WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven women's tennis team opened up Northeast-10 action on Sunday, falling to Southern New Hampshire at the New Haven Tennis Courts, 1-8. With the setback, the Chargers are now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

New Haven's lone win of the day came at No. 1 singles from freshman standout
Stephanie Gonzalez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina), who outlasted Anna Sala in a three-hour showdown, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 10-8. The win improved Gonzalez's singles record to 3-0 after posting wins against Post University and Albertus Magnus College.

The Chargers also saw a competitive matchup at No. 3 doubles with junior
Caitlyn Burridge (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) and sophomore
Nicole Calabrese (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) who trailed 5-0 before winning three out of the next six games, however the Penmen were able to run away with the 8-3 win.

The Chargers return to action for another NE10 match on Wednesday, September 13
th, as the squad travels to Le Moyne College. First serve at the Skytop Tennis Courts set for 4:00 pm.
