WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's tennis team continued their string of NE10 matchups as they fell to Bentley, 7-2 at the Brandeis Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The match brought the Chargers to 1-4 overall with an 0-3 Northeast-10 record.
New Haven's first win in the matchup came from the No. 1 doubles team consisting of Lilia Rodriguez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista) and Stephanie Gonzalez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina). The duo was able to outlast their opponents by a 9-8 score after winning a tiebreak, 10-8 for their second-straight win as a pair.
Gonzalez was also able to continue her No. 1 singles winning streak, winning in straight sets with scores of 6-4 and 7-5. The win elevated Gonzalez's record to 5-0 as she has been a very bright spot for the Chargers team.
The Chargers continue their road tour of NE10 opponents as they travel to North Easton, Mass. to face Stonehill on Tuesday, September 19th. The matchup is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM on the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
