WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team was outmatched in a Northeast-10 game on Wednesday evening, falling to the #3 Adelphi Panthers at Motamed Field, 3-0.
New Haven's best opportunity came early from junior
Sukrija Dudic (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) with a shot that was stopped by Adelphi goalkeeper, Joseph Blasetti. Adelphi did not take long to get on the scoreboard however, firing a shot in from the corner of the box in the 14
th minute of action. Sophomore keeper
Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) made a save later in the half to keep the Charger deficit at one goal.
After the locker room break, Adelphi posted a second goal when the ball was misplayed off a New Haven defender's head and was flicked in on an attempt to clear the ball out of the zone. Adelphi ran away with the match in the 76
th minute with a shot that beat Lorusso from the right side.
On the night, New Haven faced 24 shots with Lorusso tallying six total saves.
The Chargers next make the lengthy trip to Le Moyne on Saturday, September 23
rd for an NE10 match. Kickoff at Ted Grant Field is set for 1:00 pm.
