WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven Chargers women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision against the Le Moyne Dolphins under the lights at Kayo field.
New Haven launched two shots early in the first half, each saved by the Dolphins' keeper. Junior goalkeeper
Kyra Wolonsavich (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) did not allow a goal despite facing two shots. The Chargers and Dolphins were each scoreless after the first 45 minutes of play. Â Â Â Â
The Chargers came out strong to start the second half, but were unable to capitalize on a couple opportunities from seniors
Kelly Quigley (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial) and
Allison Morgan (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan Regional). The Dolphins scored twice in the beginning of the second half to go up 2-0, but junior
Marisa Pacapelli (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) quickly responded two minutes later, collecting a feed from freshman
Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) on the near side and firing to the top right corner. Le Moyne scored a third goal in the 78
th minute to put the match out of reach for the Chargers.
The Chargers face a stretch of two road games next week. New Haven will first travel to Manchester, New Hampshire on Wednesday September 27 to take on Southern New Hampshire before heading to Albany, New York on Saturday, September 30 to take on Saint Rose.
