ALBANY, N.Y. - Saint Rose's lone goal in the 12
th minute of the game was the difference maker as the University of New Haven Women's soccer team fell to Saint Rose 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre) got the start in goal as the women's soccer team took on Saint Rose for another Northeast-10 conference matchup. Davis stayed strong the whole game, only allowing one goal on seven shots. Victoria Barris of Saint Rose scored the only goal when she finished a touch from the left side that saw the low right corner of the net. The Chargers defense faced eight corners but did not allow the Golden Knights to score off of them.
The Chargers had five shots on goal, but could not capitalize on any of the opportunities. Leading the way for the Chargers offensively was senior
Kelly Quigley (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial) who took four shots, two of them on goal. Senior
Danielle Matassa (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown North), sophomore
Sorcha Ni Bhraonain (Galway, Ireland/Colaiste Cholmcille), and freshman
Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) each had one shot on goal.
The Chargers look to bounce back as they return to Kayo field for two NE10 contests next week. New Haven will first host Stonehill on Tuesday October 3
rd. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. The Chargers will also host Assumption under the lights at Kayo on Saturday October 7
