Fourth Quarter Rally Pushes No. 7/9 Bentley Past Women's Basketball, 82-70

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's basketball team led for a majority of the contest (23:44), however the No. 7/9 nationally ranked Bentley Falcons stormed back in the fourth quarter to take down the Chargers, 82-70 in NE10 action. Junior Alexandria Kerr (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) scored a game-high 27 points on 58 percent shooting in the setback.

Kerr's 27 points scored come as her sixth-straight game in double digit scoring and fourth time this season with more than 20 points. In addition to her scoring, she finished matching her career-high in assists with five, reaching that mark previously against Pace in December of last season. Joining Kerr in double digits was senior Khayla Trowell (Temple Hills, Md./Elizabeth Seton Catholic) who notched 14 points, just one point shy of matching her career-high in the second-straight game. Trowell also had reached a career high four steals. Freshman Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) rounded out the top scorers on 66 percent shooting for 12 points, her eighth game this season in double digit scoring.

Kerr finished as the leading rebounder for the Chargers with six rebounds, while Pergola was not far behind with four. Juniors Sianna Van Dyke (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) and Allieyah Cubbage (North Plainfield, N.J./Roselle Catholic) along with sophomore Kim Talley (Quakertown, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) each added five points in the loss.

Beyond the arc, New Haven held Bentley to just 4-of-17 shooting, the Falcons lowest three-point percentage of the season (23.5 percent) as well as the least amount of three-pointers this season. Junior center Victoria Lux was the leader for the Falcons with 22 points and 13 total rebounds. Senior point guard Macchi Smith finished with nine total assists.
