WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
The University of New Haven women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback against the Adelphi University Panthers on Wednesday evening at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

The Panther offense overpowered the Chargers all night long, racking up 20 shots to New Haven's seven. Of New Haven's seven shots, six were in the second half and three were on goal. Senior Emily Morello (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) led new Haven with two shots on goal, while in net, sophomore goalkeeper Paige David made five saves.

New Haven kept Adelphi off the board early, as two Panther shots hit the post within the first 16 minutes of action to keep things scoreless. It took just five minutes into the second half for Adelphi to score the game's first goal, when Taylor Sipos found the back of the net for the visitors. New Haven quickly responded four minutes later with offensive pressure as sophomore Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) and Morello strung together back to back shots, with both rejected by Adelphi keeper, Krista Aliscio. The Blue and Gold had three shot attempts in the last four minutes to hope to keep things alive, but came up short in the NE10 battle.

The Chargers will take a break from NE10 action for a non-conference match against Queens on Saturday, October 13. Kickoff at Kathy Zolad Stadium is slated for 3:00 pm.
