Field Hockey Falls on the Road at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – The University of New Haven field hockey team was back in action on Friday afternoon, but fell to the Bentley Falcons on the road, 7-0.

As a team, the Chargers made 14 total saves, led defensively by sophomore Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) who made 12 total stops. Two defensive saves were made, one coming from freshman Jessica Valentino (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) and the other by junior Ashley Higgins (North Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy), both occurring early in the second half.

Freshman Taylor Geaglone (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) had the first attempt for New Haven, but sent her shot wide in just the second minute of the contest. After Bentley scored four goals by the midway point, the Falcons continued to carry the offensive momentum into the second half until freshman Julia Battino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) had her shot blocked. Bentley went on to add three more goals to secure the shutout over the Chargers.

New Haven returns to action on Wednesday, October 17 for another NE10 contest at LIU Post. Game time at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium is slated for 4:00 pm.
